I Spy

Greetings Everyone!

I hope everyone enjoyed Halloween. I had about 25-30 Trick or Treaters and all of them were polite with great costumes I might add.

This weekend I worked on using up some of my fabric stash. I made two I Spy quilts. I had thought of making one huge quilt but then decided to divide the blocks and make two smaller quilts. Each is 55 inches square.

I haven't decided if I will add border strips or not. What do you think?

Thats all I have today.

Greetings Everyone!

DH and I had a wonderful 4th of July long weekend. We hope you all enjoyed a lovely Holiday as well.

DH painted and put up pegboard in my sewing room this weekend. I've arranged things on it where the items I need will be right handy when I go searching for them.

What do you think?

Thank you DH!!! I LOVE IT!

Susie is Retired - Lucky for her!

Greetings Everyone!

My friend, Susie, is retiring after 30 years of teaching! Her retirement party was this past Saturday and oh what a party it was.

Susie LOVES the moon and everything about the Moon. In honor of her retirement I made her a Moon Goddess Quilt. The thirty stars represent her 30 years of teaching. The Moon Goddess in the middle of the quilt is Susie. The four other Moon Goddesses represent phases of her life ( I say they are her during her two marriages and her raising her two sons) The Blue and Gold represent the colors of her own (and mine too) High school as well as the schools where she taught.

I got the idea from this site.

Happy Retirement, Susie!

OK ...I've been busy but I didn't leave!

Greetings Everyone!

I can't believe it has been almost 1 month since my last post. I've been busy as a bee. Working and stuff plus that Man O'Mine and I have both been sick.

I did get the Jeans quilt done and it has been quilted too! I used a black fabric with white stars for the backing. I sent it to a long arm quilter from my guild. She did a large meander all over. Looks nice. Now I am going to sew the binding on (not my favorite thing to do).

I found a cool video posted by Judy Laquidara. You can find it here. I'm trying it out on the Jeans quilt.

Happy Mother's Day

Greetings Everyone!

First let me say "Happy Mother's Day" to all! I hope everyone has had a fantastic day doing all the things you love with those who love you!

Last week I attended the Ricky Tims Super Seminar in Frederick MD. WOW!! It was terrific and very inspirational!

This weekend I decided to try a Convergence quilt. What do you think?

Here is the center...the convergence part of the quilt.

I used fabric that my friend found in the trash. It is sample fabrics either for drapes or upholstery. Not sure. It was multiple fabric swatches a little bigger than 24 inches square bound into carboard that listed its description. She found a lot of this fabric in bags of trash. She brought it to me, we removed the cardboard and washed all of it. It turned out to be right nice fabric. I enjoyed using it and making this little Convergence quilt top.

Jeans Quilt -Top done!

Greetings Everyone!

What a lovely weekend we've had with plenty of sunshine!

I've been cutting up jeans and have got the top of the quilt together. What do you think? As is, it fits the top of a queen size bed but I just might add another row on top and on one side. We'll see.

I got the pattern (although I modified it somewhat) here.

I enjoyed working on this top and it went together pretty fast.

Got Fish?

Greetings everyone!

Amy is hosting a Quilt Fesitval. You must check it out because she has over 400 entries so far! I've decided to join and have posted my Got Fish? quilt. I like this one because it was one of my earlier quilts I made several years ago. I like the bright colors and of course the boat fabric used in the borders. It is hanging from the loft above our kitchen.

This pattern is called La Chocolada and is from the book "Quilts for Chocolate Lovers" by Janet Jones Worley.

Have fun!

Got Crabs?

Greetings Everyone!

I had a wonderful weekend. I got to eat crabs for the first time this season and they were wonderful! The crabs were actually from NC but prepared the Chesapeake Bay way with Old Bay etc. I met up with friends at a little place in OC. When I decided to join them, I put together a little wall hanging for my friends.

The pattern is free from Mimi Dietrich. I was running short of time so I didn't put the final border on my version and I didn't do too much quilting on it either. They liked it and that is all that mattered...and I LOVED the crabs!

Amazing Talent

Everyone should check this out if you haven't already. It just goes to show you that you should never judge a book by its cover so to speak. This woman is incredible. Many have said she has a voice of an angel. Amazing.

Today's Horoscope

Greetings Everyone!

I'm not one to regularly read my horoscope but just happened to take a gander at todays.

"Just because you know how to do something and think you should do it doesn't mean you will. The missing ingredient is motivation. For now, do what you really want to do instead of forcing."

Man, I am thrilled to have read this. Phew!

Quilt Along - Quilt Top is FINISHED!

Greetings everyone!

Happy Monday! I sewed most of the weekend and finished the Bears in the Farmhouse Quilt top. This consisted of putting together the last couple of borders. I liked the way this turned out. Of course, this photo only shows one corner of the quilt but you get the idea, right?

Here's to a quick and productive week!

Quilt Along Step 3

Greetings everyone!

Wow! The weather has been something here. In the 70's yesterday and again today. Sure is a far cry from Monday when we had 6 inches of snow.

Yesterday I opened the windows and finished Step 3 of Judy Laquidara's Quilt Along. Here is one of the twelve blocks. I like it so far.

Here is another picture of all twelve blocks.

It's snowing!

Greetings!

We have several inches of snow already and it just keeps coming down. I'm at work and although the roads are covered it really wasn't too bad of a commute.

I ended up not doing as much sewing as I'd like to have yesterday but did get to make Ham and Bean soup. It was awesome if I do say so myself.

Inspiration and Synesthesia

Greetings all!

Last evening I had the pleasure of attending a Sharon Schamber lecture at the guild meeting.

WOW! Totally WOW! She shared so many beautiful quilts and pieces of her work with us. She is a very talented quilter and a very interesting person. She has synesthesia which I find most fascinating. She was spot on with her interpretation of many in attendance.

One day I'd like to attend one of her classes. Meantime, I'll keep on doing what I do which is no way near the talent she shared with us. Check out her website and see for yourself!

Oh Deer, Oh Dear!

Greetings everyone! This morning on the way to work I saw five white tail deer grazing near the roadway. They seem so tame. I stopped and rolled down the window to "chat" with them and they didn't run away. I haven't seen very many around here lately which is odd because I used to see them just about every day. It was a delight to see them again.

Received the second step for the Quilt Along yesterday. Oh Dear! So many half square triangles! I'm going to try something different and use a grid sheet. I found them at here. I also have Thangles to use. I've used Thangles before but will use them again to see which method I prefer of these two.

I did get another step of Bonnie Hunter's "Old Tobacco Road" mystery quilt completed weekend before last. As you can see, the next step is to square it up and add the borders.

Oh Dear...too many projects!

Anxiously Awaiting

Happy Hump Day everyone! Today they are talking of snow/rain mix changing to all rain later as the temperature rises. Oh how I wish it were all snow!

Today I am anxiously awaiting Part Two of the Quilt Along series. My fabric is washed and I'm ready to get started.

So silly of me to get involved in this Quilt Along beings that I've got at least a half dozen or more quilt projects going on at the same time. But I couldn't resist!

As if I've nothing else to do...I sit here anxiously awaiting!
