Susie is Retired - Lucky for her!
Greetings Everyone!
My friend, Susie, is retiring after 30 years of teaching! Her retirement party was this past Saturday and oh what a party it was.
Susie LOVES the moon and everything about the Moon. In honor of her retirement I made her a Moon Goddess Quilt. The thirty stars represent her 30 years of teaching. The Moon Goddess in the middle of the quilt is Susie. The four other Moon Goddesses represent phases of her life ( I say they are her during her two marriages and her raising her two sons) The Blue and Gold represent the colors of her own (and mine too) High school as well as the schools where she taught.

I got the idea from this site.
Happy Retirement, Susie!

OK ...I've been busy but I didn't leave!
Greetings Everyone!
I can't believe it has been almost 1 month since my last post. I've been busy as a bee. Working and stuff plus that Man O'Mine and I have both been sick.
I did get the Jeans quilt done and it has been quilted too! I used a black fabric with white stars for the backing. I sent it to a long arm quilter from my guild. She did a large meander all over. Looks nice. Now I am going to sew the binding on (not my favorite thing to do).

I found a cool video posted by Judy Laquidara. You can find it here. I'm trying it out on the Jeans quilt.

Happy Mother's Day
Greetings Everyone!
First let me say "Happy Mother's Day" to all! I hope everyone has had a fantastic day doing all the things you love with those who love you!
Last week I attended the Ricky Tims Super Seminar in Frederick MD. WOW!! It was terrific and very inspirational!
This weekend I decided to try a Convergence quilt. What do you think?

Here is the center...the convergence part of the quilt.

I used fabric that my friend found in the trash. It is sample fabrics either for drapes or upholstery. Not sure. It was multiple fabric swatches a little bigger than 24 inches square bound into carboard that listed its description. She found a lot of this fabric in bags of trash. She brought it to me, we removed the cardboard and washed all of it. It turned out to be right nice fabric. I enjoyed using it and making this little Convergence quilt top.

Jeans Quilt -Top done!
Greetings Everyone!
What a lovely weekend we've had with plenty of sunshine!
I've been cutting up jeans and have got the top of the quilt together. What do you think? As is, it fits the top of a queen size bed but I just might add another row on top and on one side. We'll see.

I got the pattern (although I modified it somewhat) here.
I enjoyed working on this top and it went together pretty fast.

Got Fish?
Greetings everyone!
Amy is hosting a Quilt Fesitval. You must check it out because she has over 400 entries so far! I've decided to join and have posted my Got Fish? quilt. I like this one because it was one of my earlier quilts I made several years ago. I like the bright colors and of course the boat fabric used in the borders. It is hanging from the loft above our kitchen.

This pattern is called La Chocolada and is from the book "Quilts for Chocolate Lovers" by Janet Jones Worley.
Have fun!
